Privacy Policy

Overview

Miyu Notch ("Miyu", "the App") is developed by GIS Analytics Limited ("we", "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the App accesses and how it is handled, and what our website at miyumac.com collects.

Data Collection

We do not operate any servers of our own, and none of your content leaves your Mac. Your notes, clipboard history, timers, preferences and everything else the App shows you are stored locally and are never sent anywhere.

The App does include one third-party analytics service, AppsFlyer, which we use to understand how people find and install Miyu. It is described under Third-Party Services below, along with what it receives and how to opt out.

On-Device Data Access

Miyu accesses the following data locally on your device to provide its features:

• Media Playback: Currently playing track information (title, artist, album art) from Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube Music — used to display media controls.
• System Stats: CPU, GPU, memory, disk, network, battery, and temperature readings — used to display system monitoring widgets.
• Calendar & Reminders: Events and reminders from Apple Calendar and Reminders — used to display upcoming items. Access requires your explicit permission via macOS.
• Camera: Camera preview in the notch — used only when you enable it. Access requires your explicit permission via macOS.
• Clipboard: Pasteboard contents — used to maintain clipboard history locally on your device.
• Screen Recording: Screen content detection — used for privacy indicators and the color picker. Access requires your explicit permission via macOS.
• Accessibility: System accessibility API — used for window management and detecting system state. Access requires your explicit permission via macOS.
• Location: Approximate location — used only for weather data on lock screen widgets, fetched from Open-Meteo (a privacy-friendly weather API that does not track users).

All of the data listed above stays on your Mac. None of it is sent to us or to any third party. The two exceptions are the approximate coordinates sent to Open-Meteo for weather, and the install and session data sent to AppsFlyer, both described below.

Third-Party Services

• Open-Meteo: Weather data is fetched from Open-Meteo's free API using your approximate location. Open-Meteo does not require an API key and does not track users. See Open-Meteo's terms.
• AppsFlyer: A mobile attribution and analytics service that tells us which of our adverts or links led to an install, and how often the App is opened. It receives a randomly generated AppsFlyer device identifier, your IP address, your Mac model, your macOS version, the App version, and app open events. It does not receive your name, your Apple Account, or anything you create or store in the App. AppsFlyer acts as a data processor on our behalf. See AppsFlyer's privacy policy. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → General → Privacy. With it off, the App sends nothing to AppsFlyer at all.

This Website

miyumac.com sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts by default. Visiting, reading and downloading from this site requires no consent and involves no tracking.

We advertise Miyu Notch on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To measure whether those adverts actually bring people here, we would like to load the Meta Pixel, which sets a cookie in your browser and tells Meta that a browser which saw one of our adverts later visited this site, along with your IP address, your browser and operating system, and whether you clicked through to the Mac App Store. It does not receive your name or your Apple Account, and we do not use it to build profiles beyond measuring our own advertising.

Nothing loads until you accept. On your first visit you are asked, and the pixel is only added to the page if you choose Accept. If you choose Decline, no advertising script is fetched and no cookie is set. Your answer is kept in your own browser's local storage so you are not asked again; clearing your browser data for this site resets it and you will be asked afresh. See Meta's privacy policy.

Our links to the Mac App Store carry an Apple campaign tag so we can see in App Store Connect which page sent a visitor. That tag is part of the link and sets nothing in your browser.

Data Storage

All preferences, clipboard history, notes, and timer data are stored locally on your Mac using macOS UserDefaults and local files. No cloud sync. No remote storage.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any data from children. Since we collect no personal data from anyone, this applies equally to users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will post the new version on this page with an updated date. Significant changes will be communicated through the App's update notes.
