What is Miyu Notch?

It turns the black notch at the top of your MacBook screen into something useful.

Right now that notch is dead space. Miyu puts your music controls, live system stats, timers, clipboard history, a colour picker and your calendar in it. You hover over the notch and it opens. No extra windows, nothing taking up space in your menu bar.

Will it work on your Mac?

Please check this before asking for a code — it only runs on MacBooks that actually have a notch.

Not sure? Open the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen, then About This Mac. If it says Intel, or your screen has no notch, Miyu unfortunately won't run.

How to redeem your code

Here is the whole thing, start to finish — 35 seconds, no sound needed. Each step is captioned as it happens.

1. Open the App Store app on your Mac.
2. Click your name at the very bottom of the left sidebar. If you're not signed in, sign in with your Apple Account first.
3. Click Redeem Gift Card or Code.
4. Choose Enter Code Manually and paste the code we sent you.
5. Miyu Notch downloads and installs itself. Open it from your Applications folder.

You will not be charged, and you don't need a card on file. The app then updates automatically like anything else from the App Store.

First launch

macOS will ask permission for a few things the first time. Miyu needs them to do its job: Accessibility to sit over the notch, and Calendar, Camera or Screen Recording only if you use those particular features. You can say no to any of them and the rest still works.

Codes also expire 28 days after we generate them, so redeem it reasonably soon.
